California's 2003 Race for Governor
This page is devoted to the lunacy known as California's 2003 Race for
Governor.
You know the history, so let's look at the notable candidates.
Democrats:
Cruz Bustamante, the sole democrat known
to use the 'n'-word,
makes his money as a bureaucrat.
Audie Bock is no goose-stepper,
she does things her own way.
Larry Flynt calls himself,
"The smut peddler who cares." Lovely.
Republicans:
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a non-voter
who says that
he will be back;
little is known about his positions.
Tom McClintock is a straight-shooter
with little glamor.
Independents:
Gary Coleman of
Diff'rent Strokes
might be small, but he knows how to
choo-choo.
Mary Carey has some innovative and
unusual ideas for solving the state's problems.
Angelyne is her complete name.
She didn't vote last fall. What else can one say?
Greens:
Peter Camejo is as honest as they come,
but like Tom McClintock, has little glamor.
Baaths:
No, not really...
Let's honor those who cannot run, have chosen not to run,
or have dropped out:
- Gray Davis (ineligible)
- Dianne Feinstein (chose not to run despite others' lobbying)
- Barbara Boxer (chose not to run despite grandiose ambitions)
- Darrel Issa (the initiator of the recall, he quietly bowed out)
- John Garamendi (told he was hurting his party, graciously bowed out)
- Bill Simon (knew that his candidacy was hopeless)
- Peter Ueberroth (saw the numbers after too much focus on numbers)
- Arianna Huffington (saw the numbers, saw a better calling)
Quotes from strange bedfellows:
"Man, this is crazy." - Bart Simpson
"Too strange to believe." - Peter Jennings
